Do You Use Hubpages?
>> Thursday, May 14, 2009
Apparently at some point about six weeks ago, I signed up for a hubpages account - and promptly forgot about it.
This week, I've come across quite a few bloggers talking about hubpages, so I went back and had another look.
I put up four quick pages.... but no real sense of whether it's worth continuing to add to them... seems to me I have enough with my blogs... but we shall see, I guess.
My hubs are:
- Anthem of a Reluctant Prophet
- Having Faith In The Polar Girls School
- Peace, Power, Righteousness
- Dear Author, Letters of Hope
Do you use hubpages? As a primary source of income, or as backlink builders?
Never heard of them.
I did put up a few Hubpages but I found them kind of annoying for 2 reasons: (1) the pages I wrote could have gone on one of my blogs and (2) most of the people writing there do how-tos, and honestly I felt a bit out of the loop (or the hub, as it were). I have done one Squidoo, which is similar, and it was OK but I put most of my energy into the 2 blogs and my other writing.
I think they are great if they fit your writing needs though. They just weren't for me (I'm Lidian over there too BTW, they are still up but just sitting)
no...I've heard mumblings about hubpages but I don't really know anything about them......
I tried Squidoo but found it really slow and clunky to work with ... hubpages are a lot easier to do, I think... but not convinced there is much point to them.
I have used hub pages, but it seems that the people that really use them effectively update them often and have many many hub pages. I find that I can write two articles or blogs in the time that it takes me to create one hub page. maybe I just need more practice. I do find them much easier to create than squidoo lenses, but I haven't seen enough results to make me create one more than occasionally.

Hi,
I hope you don't mind me posting a comment here. I found your blog through Google.
My name is Larry Freeman and I am on the HubPages staff. I've written a blog comparing hubs to blogs (http://blog.hubpages.com/2008/10/hubs-versus-blogs/).
Our goal with HubPages is to make the site as easy to use as possible. We work hard to build up a pleasant user community. We currently get over 10.9 million unique visitors a month so hopefully we're focusing on the right features.
I think that TinaT is right. To get the most out of HubPages, it helps to write a lot of hubs.
If you have any feedback on what we could do better or questions about HubPages, please let me know.
Cheers,
-Larry
Ha. I have a hubpages account too, and I think a lot like you - I've never really looked at it. Perhaps I need to go back and peruse and see what it is all about. I do see people talking about it constantly. I have quite a bit of writing work and don't necessarily need more, but the backlinks might be nice... hmm... Please keep us posted on how it works for you.
